Some people saw our move to Denmark as an adventure, fairytale, or just fun times. However, the move was a choice about creating a life that we desire to live. It was a humbling and very honest experience, in that we didn’t know where it may take us. We certainly would have never guessed that it would send us to Stockholm, and I am so happy that it did. I love this city.
It was moving day for us… again. What you see here is all that we took, down to the essentials.

Our coffee routine requires a little adaptation. We have a delicate french-press that requires a sensitive touch, and a coffee grinder that only works at a 45 degree angle and its held together by masking tape.
It is true and I am happy to announce that I have received a job offer in Stockholm! I would try to explain more, yet I feel I couldn’t say it any better then how Bethany has below.
Sometime last winter, a family of ladybugs decided to move into our apartment back in Atlanta. Most of them stayed behind the blinds or in the walls, but one ladybug found its home on a dish cloth that a friend had brought me from Stockholm several years earlier. I loved this cloth too much to ever put it to work. In fact, no matter where I was living, I insisted that it be displayed somewhere in the kitchen. Our ladybug friend appreciated the cloth too and lived contentedly on it for months, hovering perfectly centered in the first O of Stockhome.
“Do you know that ladybugs are supposed to bring good luck?” Fredo asked me one night while making dinner. We both smiled, because by this point, we were already preparing to relocate to Europe and were leaning seriously toward Denmark.
Our plan was to 1) pick a city, 2) book plane tickets, 3) sell all our stuff, 4) move to Europe, and 5) find a job that will allow us to live in Europe permanently. We chose Copenhagen, got tickets, sold everything (almost, except for a few or fifty things left in Fredo’s corner), and have been happily living here while trying to fulfill the last step.
Well, I am thrilled to announce that all 5 things have now been accomplished.
That’s right, Fredo interviewed with a design company for about 6 weeks and finally received an official job offer on July 1. And as luck would have, the company is based in Stockholm! We are still going through the visa paperwork and practicalities, but as far as we know, we will be moving to Stockholm at the beginning of August. And though we are to very sad to leave Copenhagen (I’m so in love with this city), Fredo is excited to join an amazing design agency, and we are both excited to finally settle down here in Northern Europe.
So it is true, then - ladybugs do bring good luck!

You must be this tall to talk to the Mayor.

Accidentally yet appropriately I witnessed the wedding of Princess Victoria of Sweden and Prince Daniel in an IKEA. It was kinda like crashing a wedding in 286 square feet of living space.
